The Joint Research Unit (JRU) (learning and research) “
Soil, Agro and hydroSystem” (
SAS) is located in Rennes, in the western part of France. It aims to identify the functioning and the interactions between the physical environment and agricultural activities, in order to contribute to the elaboration of sustainable agricultural production systems, to the management and the planning of the countryside, and to the preservation of natural resources (soil, water, air) and patrimonial resources (landscape, agricultural systems). It focuses on N and C cycling in cultivated landscape. The main disciplines covered by this unit are hydrology, soil science, agronomy and bioclimatology. It is included in the federative structure
CAREN (Armorican Research Centre for the Environment) and manage the LTER (Long term Environmental Research)
